Son of Smart Chic Olena by NRHA earning dam previously owned by the Babcock Ranch, Caprianna.
Caps Smart Dude "Cappy" had a late career start, entering the show ring after he was ten years old, due to no fault of his own. Known for his versatility, willing mind, and athletic ability, Cappy earned VRH points, NRCHA earnings, and roping earnings in both ends in his first season showing. He was the type that kids worked around the ranch on between shows as a "reliably safe mount". Astonishing for the little time he had to get started under saddle and compete in the bridle against open level horses that were started on time.
Cappy proved his excellence and was used as a breeding sire shortly after. Cappy has passed all soundness exams, health exams, and breeding exams as of Fall 2024. He returned to training to promote better health and longevity and absolutely loved it.
With a busy breeding season starting, we hope to attend some shows and clinics in-between to showcase his unbeatable mindset. With 40 plus foals on the ground, foal owners have consistently reported that they are "born broke" and are easy to start. These lines make great amateur level horses.

At the turn of the century, versatile stallion Smart Chic Olena’s career as a sire was taking off, buoyed by waves of successful offspring. The late stallion, who died in June 2012, now stands at $14 million in progeny earnings, with foals competing in cutting, reining, reined cow horse, barrel racing and team roping — often doubling or tripling up in disciplines.
